I was waiting with my 19 year old daughter for her flight to Las Vegas at the Sacramento Airport today and met NBA Referee Joe Crawford and his wife. Joe, if you read this it was pleasure talking with you today. Joe was very easy to approach and talk with. As an avid Sacramento Kings fan, I personally chose not to discuss the previous nights Kings game which I watched and he officiated even though there a few calls and missed calls I had issues with. I asked him if he held the record for calling technical fouls, his answer was laughter. He asked questions about me and seems genuinely interested hearing me talk about me.
Being a baller myself I know how hard Joe's job is. They don't get much recognition (except the attention Dick Bavetta got in his race with Charles Barkley, EPIC WIN for Dick). When I expressed that to him he was genuinely appreciative.
So in spite of some of the calls he makes that really piss me off (because they usually don't benefit the Kings) I walked away liking him.
